Important Update for Graduate Nursing Applicants:

All graduate nursing applications at Marymount University are reviewed exclusively through NursingCAS. To apply, you must submit your application through the NursingCAS system.
We strongly encourage you to create your account and get started early, as it typically takes NursingCAS at least two weeks to verify an application once it has been submitted. Beginning the process early will give you plenty of time to gather and upload all required materials.

Marymount’s Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is a clinical nursing education program that provides the highest credential in nursing practice and prepares professionals to assume organizational leadership roles in the healthcare system and impact healthcare outcomes through innovation and quality improvement at all levels of organizational healthcare. The Doctor of Nursing Practice program emphasizes quality instruction in evidence-based practice, health policy, nursing leadership and epidemiology. Graduates are expert clinicians, prepared to serve as nursing leaders and change agents in the complex and rapidly evolving health care environment.

There are two ways to achieve your Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Marymount:

  • BSN to DNP is for BSN prepared nurses who wish to obtain their DNP and complete the required course and clinical work to specialize as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
    • Credits  75 credits
    • Full-time: 8 semester
    • Part-time: 11 semesters
    • 750 direct patient care hours & 500 project hours

Online BSN to DNP FNP Option Available Online BSN to DNP PMHNP Option Available

  • Post-Master’s DNP is for students who already hold a masters degree in nursing
    • Credits 31-35 credits
    • Part-Time: 6 semesters
    • 1,000 post-baccalaureate practice hours (500 can be carried over from previous MSN degree)

Online Post-Master’s DNP Option Available

The DNP specific courses are offered in an executive format that combines independent asynchronous learning with virtual online meetings through audio video conferencing.  Small cohort sizes foster collegiality, collaboration and professional success.

Marymount University is affiliated with  numerous  health care agencies and clinical sites throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia area. These partnerships provide students with rich practice opportunities in clinical settings.  Close proximity to the nation’s capital opens students to experiences with lobbyists, health care policy makers and nursing executives as courses with residency requirements are completed.
