Honors & Organizations for Information Technology Students

Honor Society

Upsilon Pi Epsilon is an international honorary society whose membership consists of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in computing and information disciplines.

Members are chosen not only for their scholastic achievement in a computing science program, but also for distinguishing themselves as true professionals by meeting the standards of the society. Membership is limited to those who can effectively achieve the original goals of the society, which include

  • The recognition of outstanding talent in the field of computing science,
  • The promotion of high scholarship in computing science,
  • The establishment and maintenance of high standards in computing science,
  • The representation of computing science in interdisciplinary communications, and
  • The encouragement of individual contributions to society through computing science.

Dr. Diane Murphy is the advisor for Marymount’s UPE chapter.

Speaker Series

Students are encouraged to attend a speaker series featuring members of the local IT community, who are invited to share their expertise with Marymount students. Whether speaking in a specific class or an open forum setting, any graduate student with an interest in the topic, the speaker, or the organization is welcome to attend.

CIO Advisory Board

The CIO Advisory Board is a group of local chief information officers and IT educators. They meet about three times a year, and graduate students are welcome to attend these sessions. This board discusses the future of Marymount’s program and the IT profession.
