As you get ready to join our campus community, we want to make sure you have everything you need for a comfortable and successful start. This guide will help you pack by outlining the essentials for your new space, as well as a few items that are best left at home. From the basics and study supplies to health essentials and items for your personal comfort, we’ve got you covered. Take a look, coordinate with your roommate to avoid duplicates, and start planning your move-in!

What to Bring to Marymount Housing

Provided in All Residence Halls:

  • Bed, Desk, Desk Chair, Window Covering, Closet/Wardrobe, TV, Internet

Basics to Bring:

  • Clothes and Shoes
  • Winter Gear (hat, gloves, coat, boots)
  • Umbrella, Rain Jacket
  • Backpack
  • Posters, Dry Erase Board, Calendar
  • Adhesive Hooks, Storage Crates
  • Photos from Home, Area Rug, Small Safe, Earplugs

Laundry & Cleaning Supplies:

  • Laundry Bag, Detergent, Dryer Sheets
  • Stain Remover, Iron, Ironing Board, Hangers
  • Cleaning Supplies, Paper Towels
  • Broom, Dust Pan, Air Freshener

Kitchen & Food Items:

Bed & Bath Needs:

  • Twin XL Sheets, Blankets, Bedspread

  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)

School Supplies:

Electronics & Small Appliances:

  • TV (40″ or less recommended), Headphones

Things You Cannot Bring:

  • Only items rented through MyFridgeRental.com (such as MicroFridges) are allowed.
  • Personal Refrigerator, Microwave, Candles, Incense
  • Halogen/Oil Lamps, Flammable Liquids, Hot Plates, Toaster Oven
  • Crock Pot, Rice Cooker, Space Heater
  • Fireworks, Explosives, Unauthorized Pets
  • Weapons, Firearms, Illegal Drugs (even unused items for decoration)
  • Alcohol (if underage), Extension Cords, Electric Blanket, Router

Important Note:

  • If planning to work, bring documents to verify identity and employment eligibility.

All residents are encouraged to purchase renter’s/personal property insurance if not covered by their parent’s policy. These insurance plans cover accidental property damage caused by fire, water, or theft that could potentially occur within the residence halls.
