Summer Faculty-Student Research Opportunities

Faculty-Student Collaborative Summer Research Project Competition

Consider mentoring an MU student selected as a Summer Research Fellow. The student research fellow works one-on-one with a faculty mentor on the faculty mentor’s research project. Students are selected for this award through a competitive process and with your involvement in choosing the best candidate for your needs.

Faculty mentors, as well as students, receive a stipend for participation: A faculty information-sharing stipend of $1,000 and a student stipend of $1500. The fellowship program starts with the first summer session and continues through June 30. Specific times may change slightly each year and, with mutual agreement, can be further individualized to meet the needs of the project and or mentor-mentee.

The fellowship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. The fellowship includes weekly community building, as well as educational and information-sharing sessions. The research project must be for the faculty member. It should NOT be a student project that the faculty member is advising.
