Internal Funding Opportunities

Annual Faculty Development Grant Requests:

Funding is available for a wide range of scholarly and professional support: course release, travel, research supplies, summer research stipends, etc.
Applications due the fourth Wednesday of January each year for funding support that will begin after July 1 of the same year for funds that must be used by June 15 of the next year.

‘Last Minute’ Faculty Development Grant Requests:

Time-sensitive funding needs that have come up ‘unexpectedly’ since the primary Annual Faculty Development competition.
Applications due the fourth Wednesday in October each year for funding support that must be used BEFORE June 15 of the SAME year.

Sabbatical Leave Requests:

Available to tenured faculty as per requirements identified in the Faculty Handbook.
Applications due the fourth Wednesday in October each year for sabbatical leave to be taken the following academic year.

START Grant Awards:

Two $6,000 START grants awarded annually to faculty with a scholarly project that has high potential for future external grant funding but needs support for initial or pilot project support to enhance competitiveness for external funding.
Applications due the second Wednesday in March each year for funding support that will begin after July 1 of the same year and must be completed by June 15 of the next year.

Community Engagement Grant:

Two $5,000 grants annually are competitively awarded to faculty or faculty led student/staff projects that support engagement with & service to local, national, and/or global communities and contribute to the University’s mission of service.
Applications due the second Wednesday in March each year for funding support that will begin after July 1 of the same year and must be completed by June 15 of the next year. The Saints Center for Service oversees the CEG solicitation and awards. Contact the Saint’s Center for more information.
