Dr. Kathleen Garces-Foley’s scholarship focuses on contemporary religious trends in the United States, including such topics as young adults and religious congregations, new funeral rituals, the hospice movement, and multiethnic churches.

Dr. Garces-Foley coordinates the Student Interfaith Dialogue held each spring and is the advisor of the Muslim Student Association.

She is one of 12 Virginia faculty members honored by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) with its 2012 Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award. She was recognized in the “Rising Star” category. Read more >>

Dr. Garces-Foley is a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, the Association for the Sociology of Religion, and the Religious Research Association.

She was a 2010 Honors Fellow with the University’s Honors Program.
