2016 Graduate Student Orientations
Attending an orientation is mandatory for some programs, as listed below. All admitted students are encouraged to attend orientation as those who have attended in the previous years have given positive feedback about their experience.
All students are highly encouraged to attend the Graduate Orientation and Welcome event to take advantage of the workshops, the resource fair, ID and Parking services, and social events.
Graduate Orientations for Students Starting in Summer and Fall 2016 Terms
The Office of Graduate Admissions is hosting two Graduate Orientations and Welcomes, one on June 6, 2016 and one on August 27, 2016.
June 6, 2016 Agenda
Mandatory program orientation, can fulfill on June 6 afternoon/evening OR August 27 morning/early afternoon orientation day:
- Forensic and Legal Psychology
Mandatory program orientation will be held on June 6:
- Counseling Masters programs in Clinical Mental Health and Pastoral
Mandatory orientation will be held on August 27 but students are welcome and encouraged to attend any of the events at the June 6 orientation, where there will also be program specific meet and greet opportunity during program breakout times.
- English and Humanities
- All School of Business programs:
- Health Care Management
- Human Resource Management
- Information Technology
- Leadership and Management
Not mandatory but program orientations will be held on both June 6 and August 27:
- Health Education and Promotion
- Interior Design
- Nursing programs
Mandatory program orientations held other days:
Departments will communicate with students directly regarding the details about the program orientations below. These students are still highly encouraged to attend one of the Graduate Orientation and Welcome events to take advantage of the workshops, the resource fair, and social events.
- Counselor Education and Supervision- June 9, 2016
- Physical Therapy - July 25, 2016
- School Counseling - May 23, 2016
Newly Admitted Student Happy Hours, 5:30-7:30 pm
Students repeatedly indicate on the surveys that they would find the event more fulfilling if faculty (or more faculty) from their program would attend so it is ideal that we schedule these for a time and day when faculty from each program can attend.
