Marymount’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares nurses to be knowledgeable, skilled, and caring health professionals qualified to practice in the contemporary health care environment. Our graduates provide patient-centered quality care utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practice. Laboratory and clinical experiences are provided to develop competence in the care of patients throughout the life cycle.

It is an exciting time to explore a career in nursing. Reports project an average of 194,500 annual openings for registered nursing through 2030. Marymount has a solid reputation for preparing knowledgeable, skilled, caring nurse professionals. Today’s nurses not only provide health care to people of all ages, but also educate patients and their families in preventive care.

The baccalaureate degree program in Nursing at Marymount University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The BSN program is also approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Marymount

Marymount offers three ways to secure a BSN:

  • a traditional four-year BSN program
  • an accelerated BSN program available for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in another field, ideal for adults interested in switching careers.
    • This program has 3 options:
      • full-time (4 consecutive semesters)
      • online/distance (4 consecutive semesters)
      • part-time (9 consecutive semesters)
  • a hybrid online RN-to-BSN program. We are not accepting applications at this time.

Students in the traditional and accelerated second-degree BSN programs take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), and Marymount is proud to report an average first time pass rate of greater than 90% over the past 5 years. VA BON ‘5 year NCLEX pass rate.’

Marymount connects students with health care agencies and clinical sites throughout the Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, area, providing hands-on skills and preparing them for the challenges and rewards of this fulfilling profession.
