Next Steps

The beginning of the semester will be here before we know it! In preparation, here are a few next steps to make sure you and your student are prepared for their arrival on campus. Please email orientation@marymount.edu with any additional questions or concerns.

1. Confirm Class Registration

Freshman: Take the Directed Self Placement (DSP). The DSP is  available twenty-four hours after you have created your Student Account. This is not an exam, but rather a way to make sure you are placed in the appropriate English and Math courses. Follow this link for detailed instructions and access to the assessment.Once you are completed with both portions of the DSP, you receive directions on how to schedule a new student appointment, via Zoom or phone.  During the appointment, your first semester course schedule will be discussed. This is a great time to ask questions, too! Freshman students are registered by their Academic Advisors during or after the appointment.

Transfer: Contact your advisor regarding class selection and degree planning. Academic Advisors will provide course options and assist you with registration. Once you have completed with both portions of the DSP, you will receive directions on how to schedule a new student appointment, via Zoom or phone. If you are uncertain who your advisor is, log into your MU email account; an email from your Academic Advisor may be there! If you have questions, you are welcome to email advising@marymount.edu.

2. Purchase Textbooks

Please click here to access the online Marymount Bookstore to purchase books and materials for the fall semester.

3. Confirm On-Campus Housing

By now your student should have received their on-campus housing assignment. If they have not, please contact rlife@marymount.edu or 703.284.1608. Students will receive further information about move-in, via their Marymount email, before July 25, 2020.

4. Student Health and Immunization Forms

Students born after December 31, 1956, must provide proof of compliance with immunization requirements mandated by the Commonwealth of Virginia and Marymount University. All information must be submitted online through the Student Health Services (SHS) patient portal. The deadline for the fall is August 1, 2020. Please contact Student Health Services at shealthc@maymount.edu or call us at 703.284.1610 if you have any questions.
