Graduate Student Orientation

2018-2019 Admitted Graduate Student  Welcome and Orientation Events

Attending a program orientation is mandatory for some programs, as listed below. 

Friday, June 8th, 2018
Graduate Welcome Event - Ballston BBQ

Whether your program offers an optional or mandatory orientation at this Welcome Event, all admitted students are encouraged to join us for the event to participate in the resource fair, workshops, and BBQ with faculty and classmates.

Time:  Late afternoon/ evening   
Location:  Ballston Center (1000 N. Glebe)

Welcome Event Schedule

Student ID: To obtain your Student ID at Graduate Welcome, you must register for courses by June 1 and complete this form.  If you obtain your ID this way, you submit your own favorite picture to be printed on your Student ID.  

Parking Permits: Parking Permits for Summer are available by visiting the ID and Parking Office on the Main Campus (Ireton Hall) during their office hours.  Parking Permits for the FAll seemster will be available for online purchase in August. 

For the programs below, mandatory program orientation sessions will be held during Graduate Welcome event:

  • Forensic and Legal Pyschology (can also fulfill orientation requirement on August 25th) 
  • Counseling Masters programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling including Pastoral (held at Graduate Welcome Event ONLY)

Students admitted to the programs below must attend mandatory orientation sessions on August 25th, but are still encouraged to attend any of the events on June 8th Welcome Event, where there will also be program specific meet and greet opportunities:

  • English and Humanities
  • M.Ed.
  • All School of Business programs:
    • Cybersecurity
    • Health Care Management
    • Human Resource Management
    • Information Technology
    • Leadership and Management
    • M.B.A.
    • Forensic and Legal Psychology 

While no mandatory, program orientation sessions will be held on both June 8th and August 25th:

  • Health Education and Promotion
  • Interior Design
  • Nursing programs

Mandatory program orientation held on a different date with department but program optional meeting held at June 8th Welcome Event:

  • Physical Therapy
Fall Orientation: Saturday, August 25th, 2018

Time:  Late morning/early afternoon
Location:  Ballston Center (1000 N. Glebe)
