Cultural Programs & Events

Marymount University and the International Student Services Office (ISS) are committed to a student-centered learning community that values diversity. ISS strives to further global awareness through a wide variety of intercultural and educational programs for the University community, these programs give an opportunity for students to share their rich cultures and be engaged in the University community.

Spring 2019 Major Cultural Events

Spring 2019 International Kick-Off Reception

Date: Friday, January 19th
Time: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: Gerard Lobby
Description: An annual tradition where you can meet new friends, enjoy international food, and share stories of your Winter break.  Students will also talk about the exciting multicultural programs coming up including the International banquet.  Open to the entire university community.

Weekly Coffee Hour

Date: Fridays
Time: 3:30 PM-5:00 PM
Location: Gerard Lobby
Description: Weekly meeting of International Club, comprising of international students and American students where participants are able to learn and exchange ideas and improve their multicultural learning experience here at Marymount.  Sessions include country presentations, discussions, film shows, social outings and other exciting activities.

Monthly Pizza Conversation Group

Date: ​Every other Thursday: Jan. 31st, 
 Time: 12:00 – 1:00 pm
Location: Gerard Hall Room 1031
Description: Come and talk about topics that concern us as international students. It's a safe, supportive and non-judgemental atmosphere.

Description: F-1 visa holding students must attend a workshop so they can learn about internships and employment opportunities after graduation. International student advisors will go over the application requirements and deadlines as well.

Zoo Trip

Date: Wednesday March 6th
Location: Smithsonian’s National Zoo
Description: The Smithsonian’s National Zoo is part of the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex. Founded in 1889, the Zoo sits on 163 acres in the heart of Washington, D.C.’s Rock Creek Park and is home to 2,700 animals representing more than 390 species. Great opportunity to learn and have fun!

International Week

Date: April 8th to April 12th
Location: Marymount University Campus
Description: During this week, the Marymount community will be able to participate in several events that will provide the opportunity for cultural appreciation and understanding. All events are open to the whole community. This will be the 23rd Annual International Week celebrating international cultures and Marymount’s diversity. There will be a variety of events including a Potluck, Interfaith Forum and the International Banquet.

23rd International Banquet

Date: Friday April 12th
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Lee Center, Main Campus
Description:  Join ISS and International Club for a fun filled night featuring traditional attires, music, dance and great food from different countries.

End of Semester Celebration

Date: Friday, May 3rd,
