Join us and discover the positive benefits of mindful meditation techniques combined with gentle stretching positions, as you connect breath and focus to facilitate relaxation and the reduction and stress.

This class, based on mindfulness meditation techniques, encourages students to bring the practice of mindful meditation out of the studio and into daily life. Basic meditation techniques are reviewed. Class typically involves a short discussion, a 5-10 minute meditation with gentle stretching, and a 15-20 minute meditation. Come enjoy the support of a group meditation. If you are new to meditation you are invited to come 15 minutes early to get comfortable. Open to all levels.

Meditation sessions offer students a time to set aside for relaxation, which is rare with the conflicting pressures of student and social life. 

What is mindful meditation?
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally.” (Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, founding Director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.)

What are the health benefits of mindful meditation?
There have been several studies with college students suggesting that the practice of mindfulness leads to decreases in stress and anxiety, improvements in concentration and attention, and increases in self-awareness and overall emotional well-being.

Other studies have shown that practicing mindfulness meditation for brief periods, even 5 or 10 minutes a day, may improve your health.
