April 8 - COVID-19 Update (April 8, 2020)

Dear Marymount Community,

I hope all of you are off to a great start to this short week. Please see below for our latest announcements regarding COVID-19’s continued impact on campus:

Commencement
We are pleased to provide an update from the University Commencement Committee regarding plans to celebrate the accomplishments of our Class of 2020. A virtual celebration webcast will be available online on May 31, 2020. Graduates will be invited to create their own pages, and commencement programs will also be available online. Please check your Marymount email beginning April 14 for information about ordering regalia if you are interested in doing so, and providing your information for the virtual events.

Additionally, we are planning an in-person ceremony for our Spring and Summer 2020 graduates in the fall. More details on these plans are forthcoming.

The University Commencement Committee includes representatives from across the institution. Please know that we are all heartened and grateful for the community’s understanding and support as we navigate together through the uncertainties presented by COVID-19. We are committed to celebrating and honoring our Marymount seniors and outgoing graduate students, whose milestone moments unfortunately intersected with this public health crisis that is bigger than all of us.

Fall Registration
While COVID-19 has changed the way we are learning, teaching and working during this spring semester, we are making preparations for the return of traditional, in-person classes in Fall 2020. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage all returning students to register for fall courses. Please check with your academic advisor if you have any questions concerning this process and meeting your academic goals. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to campus soon!

In these trying times, please continue to be vigilant, practice social distancing and make good choices. While this will be a different Holy Week and Easter to what we are used to, there is still so much to celebrate, and I look forward to rejoicing with all of you on the holiest day of the year.

Be safe and healthy, and God bless,

Irma Becerra, Ph.D.
