April 13 - COVID-19 Update (April 13, 2020)

Dear Marymount Community,
In the midst of these challenging times, it was reassuring for me – as I’m sure it was for you – to rejoice and celebrate Easter Sunday! I hope you had a peaceful and restful holiday weekend.
Please see below for our latest announcements regarding COVID-19’s continued impact on campus:
Medical Reserve Corps
Earlier today, I sent out an announcement on behalf of Gov. Northam calling for volunteers to help fight the COVID-19 virus with the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). Statewide, they are looking for an additional 30,000 medical and non-medical volunteers to provide support. Signing up to serve is a great opportunity for health care majors and faculty, as well as all of our students, faculty, staff and friends of the University. To become a Virginia MRC volunteer, please visit the Virginia Volunteer Health System website. If you have any questions, please email
Donating Face Masks
Thanks to all who have so generously made face masks and shields for our on-campus students, staff and faculty. We so appreciate the efforts of Dr. Eric Bubar and his students, Professor William Allen, Professor Moira Denson, Student Health Services, Campus Safety and many others. We are about a quarter of the way to our goal of providing masks to everyone on campus. If you would like to donate a new face mask (made or purchased) to our on-campus community, please email Laura Finkelstein, our Assistant Vice President of Student Health and Well-Being.
Student Affairs
Please click here for this week’s edition of the Student Affairs virtual events calendar. We are including this in the COVID-19 email update every Monday to let you know about the latest fun, helpful and engaging activities you can participate in while learning and working remotely. Should you have communication/access needs, please let us know and we will work to make programs you attend accessible to you.
We’re in the home stretch of the spring semester now – I encourage all of our Saints to keep your eyes on the prize as finals approach!
Be safe and healthy, and God bless,
Irma Becerra, Ph.D.
