Education Students Travel to Ugandan Primary School
Monday, April 29, 2019
Two Marymount Education Department faculty traveled with students and teachers to our partner primary school, the Arlington Junior School in rural Uganda. This was Elizabeth Langran’s and Mary Gibson’s 5th and 6th trips, respectively. During each trip, Marymount delivers workshops on active learning strategies to teachers at the Arlington Junior School (AJS) and other outreach public schools, and mentors teachers in their classrooms. This year’s group of trainers included not only Marymount Education graduate and undergraduate students, but also for the first time, local teachers from Arlington, Fairfax, and Alexandria public schools, including an MU alumna. Additionally, a 7th grade student at AJS received a prosthetic arm that was 3D-printed by Dr. Eric Bubar of Marymount’s Biology and Physical Sciences Department.
