Marymount University
Development Office

Arlington, VA 22207

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of securities often provide significant tax benefits for donors. Appreciated securities held for over a year are deductible at market value, up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income. Unused deductions may be carried over for up to five years, and the capital gains tax is avoided through such a gift. For making a gift of stock, please see our Stock Donation Instructions or contact the Office of Development for additional assistance.

Gifts of Real-Estate

Gifts of appreciated real estate can confer significant tax benefits on the donor, particularly if returns from the property are modest compared to the capital gains tax that would be levied of the property were sold. Donors of appreciated real estate may be able to deduct the full market value of the property.
Gifts of real estate are subject to various legal regulations.

Donate artwork, book collections or other valuable personal property to the University, or contribute an auction item to our Portfolio in Motion Cocktail Reception & Silent Auction. Gifts of tangible personal property are subject to various legal regulations.

Planned Giving

Planned giving provides flexible ways for donors to help Marymount. Part of the attraction of planned gifts is that they offer benefits to both donors and the University. The links below will provide an introduction to some of the ways you can structure a planned gift to Marymount University.

  • Complete and submit the form to Marymount University along with your gift.
  • Marymount University will verify the completed form and return it to the company.
  • The company issues a matching gift contribution to Marymount University.
