Marymount Board Chairman, Dr. Ed Bersoff, named a 2020 Laureate for the Washington Business Hall of Fame

Dr. Ed Bersoff, Chairman of Marymount University’s Board of Trustees, has been recognized as a 2020 Laureate for the Washington Business Hall of Fame, a signature lifetime achievement award that honors individuals who have made a lasting and significant impact on the greater Washington region through the private sector economy and serve as role models for the next generation of leaders. Successful nominees to the Hall of Fame demonstrate a lifetime of business excellence, visionary and innovative leadership and community involvement.

Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, a nonprofit that specializes in providing financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs to area youth, and its business partners, the Greater Washington Board of Trade and the Washington Business Journal, selected Bersoff as a 2020 honoree, along with two other laureates – Mark Lerner, Vice Chairman of the Washington Nationals, and Janet Hill, Board Member of The Carlyle Group and Esquire Bank.

“I am honored to be a 2020 Washington Business Hall of Fame laureate with two outstanding and innovative leaders,” Bersoff said. “Their impact on our community has been enormous, and it’s humbling to join them and other past laureates who epitomize Washington business and community involvement at its best. Like past laureates, our work is not done – I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned with the next generation.”

In addition to leading Marymount’s Board of Trustees, Bersoff currently serves as Chairman of Greenwich Associates, LLC, a business advisory firm in Bethesda, Md., and also as Chairman and founder of Parabilis, LLC, a business finance company in Northern Virginia. A retired military officer who previously worked at NASA, he has been a leader in the government contracting world for more than 50 years.

“Marymount University is blessed to have a Board Chair with the experience of Dr. Bersoff, who holds a deep understanding of academics, business and entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Irma Becerra, President of Marymount University. “He has been instrumental in setting us on the path towards national recognition and accomplishing our strategic plan goals. We are so pleased that he has been honored with this important and well-deserved award.”

“Dr. Bersoff’s half-century of entrepreneurial leadership in the government contractor community is second only to his commitment to health care and education,” said Ed Grenier, President of Junior Achievement of Greater Washington. “He is the epitome of the entrepreneurial business success story who pays that success forward to the next generation – an inspiring example for the youth JA of Greater Washington seeks to inspire and educate.”

The award is Bersoff’s second regional leadership induction in less than a year. In 2019, he was inducted into the Greater Washington Government Contractor Hall of Fame. For full biographical information on Bersoff and his experiences, click here.

Bersoff, Lerner and Hill will be inducted to the Washington Business Hall of Fame on Dec. 2, 2020, a day following the Student and Laureate Town Hall. All proceeds from the events benefit Junior Achievement of Greater Washington’s work with area youth to build the next generation of business and financial leaders.
