Marymount University held its Recognition Day Awards Ceremony on Saturday morning at the Rose Benté Lee Center, Verizon Gym, as part of a weekend of events in which 650 bachelor’s degree candidates, 347 master’s degree candidates and 43 doctoral degree candidates received their diplomas.
Bishop Ireton Award
James Carroll and Maria Camarca won the Bishop Ireton Award, given by students to the bachelor’s degree candidates who had the greatest influence for good on their companions. This is one of the highest awards given to a Marymount graduate and the only award given by students to their peers.
Sister Majella Berg Service Medal
Madelyn Kellen received the Sister Majella Berg Service Medal, given to the graduating student who has made the most significant contribution to community service in the Greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan region. It’s one of the highest awards given to a Marymount graduate and signifies the recipient’s unwavering commitment to the community and its needs.
Mother Butler Gold Medal
Emily Munn received the Mother Butler Gold Medal, which is awarded by the faculty to the student who has shown the greatest devotion to Marymount’s ideals.
Senior Leadership Award
Twelve students received the Senior Leadership Award for their positive contributions to Marymount and the general community, their academic success and for upholding the mission and values of the university: Gordon Baer, Isabella Blecha, Kirsten Campbell, Nhu-Phuong Duong, Nicole Eshbach, Michael Laviena, Manahil Malik, Brandan McCammitt, Emily Munn, Scott Robison, Kassidy Schmidt, and Kacie Townsend.
Spirit of Service Scholars
Meghan Higgins, Emily Munn, Kassidy Schmidt and Nathaniel Valenti were recognized as Spirit of Service Scholars. They demonstrated exemplary academic and volunteer service to their high school communities and continued to demonstrate that same service to the Marymount and Arlington communities.
Honors Medals, which signify the completion of the honors program, were presented to Oluremi Akin-Olugbade, Kaitlin Atterbury, Emily Benson, Najai Bradley, Maria Camarca, Kirsten Campbell, Collin Chartier, Dana Hackel, Julianna Jaimie, Madelyn Kellen, Jessica Klein, Caitlyn Laux and April Westmark.
