Join us on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 19th, as we welcome award-winning poet and teacher David Gewanter to Marymount University. Gewanter teaches poetry at Georgetown University and is the author of several books of poetry. His collection In the Belly
(1997) won the Ploughshares
’s John C. Zacharis First Book Award, and The Sleep of Reason
(2003) was a finalist for the Academy of American Poets' James Laughlin Award. According to the Poetry Foundation, Gewanter's' work is "a layered, lyrical poetry of ideas that often explores themes of family, nature, and reason." This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
