The MU DREAMers will be hosting a film screening for the documentary "30 Days, 30 Stories" to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Director and Brown University graduate St. Clair Detrick-Jules will be returning to Marymount to show her first film. The film follows 30 young Latino immigrants as they tell their stories and explore their identities. The synopsis of the film, written by St. Clair, is as follows: "[30 Days, 30 Stories] captures just a snapshot of the triumphs, fears, struggles, and dreams of these young Latinx folks... I hope these videos will let them know I'm committed to getting their voices out, especially given the worsening political situation in the country regarding immigration, in particular for Hispanics. I'm grateful to all of them for letting me into their world, and I hope these videos let the world see them more clearly." --St. Clair Detrick-Jules
We plan to have a panel discussion following the film, where St. Clair, club officers, and some of the young people featured in the film will get to answer questions from the audience. The goal of our panel discussion is to spark conversation among people in and outside of the Marymount Community about the significance of immigration-related issues and the broad impact on our generation.
