The National Survey of Student Engagement

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from first-year and senior undergraduate students about their engagement in educational experiences and behaviors that are associated with learning, personal development, and student success.

Developed and administered by Indiana University School of Education’s Center for Postsecondary Research, the survey helps institutions highlight where they are performing well and where aspects of the undergraduate experience could be improved. Marymount uses NSSE as an important tool in its efforts to assess and strengthen institutional effectiveness. In 2017, 725 colleges and universities and more than 517,000 students participated in NSSE. Nearly six million students have completed the survey since 2000.
