Requirements for Readmitted Students

We are glad that you are interested in returning to Marymount.  Below are the details concerning reenrollment based on your personal circumstances.

Academically Dismissed Students

Students who have been academically dismissed or left the university while on academic probation
 

Admission Requirements for Academically Dismissed Students

Answer
Students who have been academically dismissed or left the university while on academic probation may seek readmission to the university after waiting at least one full fall or spring semester after the last semester they were enrolled at. 

Students must have successfully completed at least 9 credits in the most recent fall or spring semester prior to the readmission application with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Courses must be completed at a regionally accredited institution and comparable to Marymount's current Liberal Arts Core requirements or major specific requirements.

Required Materials for Academically Dismissed Students

Answer

To be eligible and considered for readmission, you must submit the following to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the readmission deadline:

  • a completed Readmission Application (download PDF)
  • a written statement that includes:
    • reasons for the your previous lack of success at the university, including an explanation of any extenuating circumstances that contributed to your previous academic difficulties;
    • documentation (if applicable) that any extenuating circumstances have been addressed; and
    • a detailed plan of success
  • official transcript(s) of all academic work completed at other institutions since enrollment at Marymount. These transcripts must include evidence of satisfactory academic efforts, preferably with one of the following requirements met:
    • successful completion of at least 9 credits in the most recent fall or spring semester prior to the readmission application with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Courses must be completed at a regionally accredited institution and comparable to Marymount's current Liberal Arts Core requirements or major specific requirements.
    • successful completion of a new undergraduate degree since enrollment at the university. The degree must be earned from a regionally accredited institution.
  • a positive letter of recommendation from a current or former faculty member
All submitted documents become University property and may not be returned.

NOTE: The Undergraduate Academic Standards Committee (UASC) reviews all eligible applications and makes final decisions on readmission to the university and intended major. The UASC will review and consider all coursework taken after dismissal from the university in making a decision on readmission. The committee will not review applications that are incomplete or that do not include evidence of satisfactory academic efforts.

The application deadlines for students who wish to be readmitted into Marymout University are as follows:
  • June 1 for fall entry
  • December 1 for spring entry

Confirming Your Enrollment

Answer

Submit your deposit online or return the Enrollment Notification Form that was sent with your acceptance letter, along with your enrollment deposit. Make sure to submit your deposit and confirm your enrollment as soon as possible.

To pay your deposit over the phone with your credit card, call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (800) 548-7638. You can also mail a check to:

Copies of any submitted transcripts have been forwarded to the Registrar’s Office for a credit evaluation. Priority will be given to students who have submitted their enrollment deposit. Allow a few weeks for the Office of Admissions to review your Transfer Credit Evaluation. Should you have any questions prior to your enrollment specifically related to your curriculum or courses, please contact your School office. If you have any courses in progress at the time of your acceptance, please be sure to have an official final transcript sent so we can finalize your credit evaluation.

Students in Good Standing

Students who left Marymount while in good academic,disciplinary and financial standing

Required Materials for Students in Good Standing

Answer
If you left Marymount while in good academic and disciplinary standing, you will need to submit the following items:
  • Completed readmission application (download PDF)
  • $40.00 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended since taking classes at MU
  • One letter of recommendation from a Marymount faculty member
All submitted documents become University property and may not be returned. 

Admission Requirements for Students in Good Standing

Answer
All students who wish to be readmitted into Marymount University must have a cumulative college GPA of at least A 2.5 GPA be considered for admission.
