Graduate Student Orientation

2018-2019 Graduate Student Orientations

Attending an orientation is mandatory for some programs, as listed below.  All admitted students are encouraged to attend orientation as those who have attended in the previous years have given positive feedback about their experience.

All students are highly encouraged to attend the Graduate Orientation and Welcome event to take advantage of the workshops, the resource fair, ID and Parking services, and social events.

Graduate Orientation and Welcome Event Schedule

Graduate Welcome Event/Orientation-"Ballston BBQ": Friday, June 8th, 2018

Time:  Late afternoon/ evening   
Location:  Ballston Center Courtyard (1000 N. Glebe)
RSVP and Schedule links coming mid-Spring

You can pick up your Student ID when you check-in at Graduate Orientation on June 8th, 2018 if you register for courses then complete this form by June 1st.  If you obtain your ID this way, you submit your own favorite picture to be printed on your Student ID.  The picture must be a headshot showing your head and neck.  
Also, if you would like to receive your parking pass at Graduate Orientation, please register for courses then complete this form by June 1st.
Otherwise, an ID and/or parking pass can be obtained by visiting the ID and Parking Office on the Main Campus (Ireton Hall) either before the January 11th Orientation or any other day during their office hours.

Mandatory program orientation sessions:

  • Forensic and Legal Pyschology (can also fulfill orientation requirement on August 25th) 
  • Counseling Masters programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Pastoral

Mandatory orientation sessions will be held on August 25th, but students are welcome and encouraged to attend any of the events on June 8th, where there will also be program specific meet and greet opportunities:

  • English and Humanities
  • M.Ed.
  • All School of Business programs:
    • Cybersecurity
    • Health Care Management
    • Human Resource Management
    • Information Technology
    • Leadership and Management
    • M.B.A.
    • Forensic and Legal Psychology 

Not mandatory but program orientation sessions will be held on both June 8th and August 25th:

  • Health Education and Promotion
  • Interior Design
  • Nursing programs

Not mandatory but program meeting held on June 8th:

  • Physical Therapy
Fall Orientation: Saturday, August 25th, 2018

Time:  Late afternoon/early evening   
Location:  Ballston Center (1000 N. Glebe)
