Accepted International Students

Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to Marymount University!

There are a few things you must do to secure your place at Marymount and address your U.S. immigration requirements.

Submit an Enrollment Deposit

Answer

Accepted students must first place a non-refundable enrollment deposit to reserve their space at Marymount University. This must be in the form of a check drawn on a U.S.-based branch of a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars.

  • Undergraduate students: $300
  • Graduate students in the programs:
    • Counseling (all M.A. programs): $300
    • Education cohort at Reston Center: $200
    • Forensic Psychology: $300
    • Nursing (D.N.P.): $300
    • Nursing (M.S.N.): $200
    • Physical Therapy: $500 is due within three weeks of notification of acceptance. 
NOTE: If a deposit is required for your program, this would have been indicated in your official admissions letter and the e-mail that included the Welcome Packet. Graduate program deposits are due within 30 days of notification of acceptance.

Obtain an I-20

Answer

If you need an I-20 (certificate of eligibility) for an F-1 student visa, you must submit the following documents, in addition to the previously stated admission material. If you are a student with an active F-1 student visa and you currently hold an I-20 from another U.S. institution, you must arrange for the transfer of your SEVIS record to Marymount and obtain an I-20 from Marymount.

All documents must be sent as attachments in one single email to admissions@marymount.edu.

Only students currently enrolled in a U.S. high school or college under F-1 visa status need to submit the following items:

It is recommended that you submit your documents early, particularly if you will be applying for a new F-1 visa. All documents listed above must be received by the Admissions Office no later than the application deadline.

Please note that Marymount University will cover the cost of shipping the initial I-20. International students are responsible for all subsequent I-20 shipping fees unless an error was made by the university. If a student requires an updated I-20 due to deferral, errors in documentation submitted, or electronically approved an I-20 with errors, they will be required to cover the cost of shipping an updated I-20 through https://study.eshipglobal.com/default.asp. Shipping costs for updated I-20's due to a visa denial will be considered on a case by case basis.

Get Ready!

Generate Your Student Account to gain access to the Marymount portal, email, Canvas, and other internal Marymount sites.
  • Register for Orientation. All incoming international students are automatically registered for the International Student Session and are required to attend.

  • Register for classes through Marynet.

    Note: If you are an undergraduate first year student or transfer student with less than 30 credits, you must take the Directed Self-Placement Test (DSP), so that you can register for classes. You will receive a link to take the DSP once you submit your enrollment deposit.

  • Complete your housing application if you will be living on campus or in university-sponsored housing.

  • Complete the Student Medical Form. You must submit the form before you will gain access to register for classes.
