How to Apply

Depending on the type of program you wish to apply for, the application process will be slightly different. Please see the instructions below for each different program type.

Note: All applicants for semester or summer semester programs must meet with a CGE staff member before applying to any of the following programs or their application may be denied.

Fall, Spring, & Summer Semester Programs

Answer
The following instructions pertain to the process for applying to a fall, spring, or summer semester program.

How to Apply:
A two-part application process is required for all semester-long study abroad programs.

Part 1: CGE Online Application
Upon selecting a program with the help of a CGE staff member, students must click the "Apply Now" button on the program's online brochure page in the CGE study abroad portal/application system. Applicants must complete all of the indicated application items, including a number of questionnaires and a personal statement (750 word minimum), and click the "Submit" button in their application by the listed program deadline. After submitting the application, students will be notified by email of their acceptance into the program.

The CGE online application must be submitted by the following deadlines (though some may have earlier deadlines):
  • Fall semester abroad: March 1
  • Spring semester abroad: October 1
  • Summer semester abroad: February 1
​Note: A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required (some programs may have higher requirements), and students MUST be in good academic standing in order for their application to be considered.

Do not move forward with applying directly to the host university/program provider before your submitted CGE online application has been approved.

Part 2: Host Program Application
After you have received a follow-up email from the CGE saying your CGE online application has been approved, you may move forward with your application to your specific host university/program provider.

NOTE: All host program applications are different. Be mindful of the process, requirements, and deadlines.

Short-Term Faculty-led Summer Programs

Answer

The following instructions pertain to the process for applying to an MU Short-Term Faculty-led Summer Program.

How to Apply:
The Marymount Short-Term Faculty-led Summer Programs accept student applications on a first come, first served basis. Program courses and locations for the summer are typically released at the end of the fall semester of the previous year.

To apply for a Short-Term Faculty-led Program, students must click the "Apply Now" button on the program's online brochure page in the CGE study abroad portal/application system. Applicants must complete all of the indicated application items and click the "Submit" button in their application by the listed program deadline. After submitting the application, students will be notified by email of their acceptance into the program by the listed program decision date.

​Note: Students MUST be in good academic standing in order for their application to be considered.

Global Classroom Series Programs

Answer

The following instructions pertain to the process for applying to a Global Classroom Series Program.

How to Apply:
Program courses and locations for the Global Classroom Series programs are typically released at the end of the spring semester of the previous academic year, and the current offerings can be viewed on our Global Classroom Series Program page. From that page, click on the individual program links, which will take you to the program's online brochure page on the CGE study abroad portal/application system.

To apply for a Global Classroom Series program, students must click the "Apply Now" button on the program's online brochure page. Applicants must complete all of the indicated application items and click the "Submit" button in their application by the listed program deadline. After submitting the application, students will be notified by email of their application status (accepted, waitlisted, OR denied) by the listed program decision date.

Note: Students MUST be in good academic standing in order for their application to be considered.

International Internships

The following instructions pertain to the process for applying to an international internship program.

How to Apply:

Graduate Student Programs

The following instructions pertain to the process for applying to an MU Faculty-Led Graduate Student Program.

How to Apply:
The MU Faculty-led Graduate Student Programs are offered at various points throughout the academic year and accept student applications on a first come, first served basis. Program courses and locations for a given semester are typically released at the beginning of the previous semester, if not a year in advance, and current offerings can be viewed on our Graduate Student Programs page. From that page, click on the individual program links, which will take you to the program's online brochure page on the CGE study abroad portal/application system.  

To apply for a Graduate Student Program, students must click the "Apply Now" button on the program's online brochure page. Applicants must complete all of the indicated application items and click the "Submit" button in their application by the listed program deadline. After submitting the application, students will be notified by email of their application status (accepted, waitlisted, OR denied) by the listed program decision date.

Note: Students MUST be in good academic standing in order for their application to be considered.

Global Student Teaching

Answer

The following instructions pertain to the process for applying for a Global Student Teaching placement.

How to Apply:
Interested students must contact the Department of Education & Human Services Coordinator of Education Clinical Experiences at least one year prior to their student teaching semester to express interest in the program. The list of application materials below must be submitted by the following deadlines:

  • Spring student teaching: October 1
  • Fall student teaching: February 1

Application Materials:

  • MU general student teaching application
  • Country-specific student teaching application
  • Student teaching abroad program-specific application
  • CGE Online Application 

Note: Students MUST be in good academic standing in order for their application to be considered.

Program Requirements:

  • Pass licensure examinations and required coursework
  • Complete global student teaching reflections and presentation upon return

Domestic Study Away

The Domestic Study Away Programs are offered at various points throughout the academic year and accept student applications on a first come, first served basis. From that page, click on the individual program links, which will take you to the program's online brochure page on the CGE study abroad portal/application system.

To apply for a Domestic Study Away Program, students must click the "Apply Now" button on the program's online brochure page. Applicants must complete all of the indicated application items and click the "Submit" button in their application by the listed program deadline. After submitting the application, students will be notified by email of their application status (accepted, waitlisted, OR denied) by the listed program decision date.
