School of Technology and Innovation

School of Technology and InnovationWelcome to the School of Technology and Innovation in the College of Business, Innovation, Leadership and Technology (BILT).

Today, technology is a major part of all of our lives and our school is here to educate the next generation of technology gurus, whatever that technology brings.

We are extremely proud of our progressive technology programs and the quality of our students that are entering the challenging workplace of today and tomorrow. Students get a quality education here at Marymount and are fully prepared for the exciting and challenges careers ahead.

The School of Technology and Innovation focuses on preparing individuals to take part in the global critical technology workforce shortage. The programs, undergraduate, masters and doctorate, prepare students, whether they are already in the field or changing careers for new roles in digital transformation, cybersecurity, data science, cloud computing, and the constantly growing field of technology applications.

The School has up-to-date programs at the undergraduate level (B.S. in Information Technology, B.S. in Cybersecurity, B.S. in Computer Science, B.S. in Cloud Computing, and post-baccalaureate certificate in Data Science); master’s level (M.S. in Information Technology, M.S. in Cybersecurity, M.S. in Emerging Technology, and M.S. in Technology Management; and doctoral level (D.Sc. in Cybersecurity).

We are constantly researching technology. It is fast-changing with new areas being constantly developed, think cybersecurity, blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotic process automation (RPA) to name a few more recent additions to the field.

We recognize these specialized areas and allow our undergraduate students to build on their general information technology knowledge with specific areas of expertise including business analysis, cloud computing, computer science, cybersecurity, data science, digital forensics, game design and development, and network security. At the graduate level, master’s students can similarly specialize in cybersecurity, data science, digital transformation, digital health, healthcare informatics, project management, and software engineering.

We also have programs for “career changes”, individuals looking for opportunities to work in the technology field after experience in another field. If an individual has a four-year degree and is not ready for a graduate program, we offer accelerated second-degree undergraduate programs (B.S. Cybersecurity, and B.S. Cloud Computing). If they already have an IT background, they should look at our “stackable” certificates to reskill in one of the newer areas in technology (cybersecurity, digital health, data science, digital transformation, and healthcare informatics) or be prepared to manage in the technology environment (project management). Take any 3 of these stackables to suit your career goals and earn an M.S. in Emerging Technology.

We encourage everyone to take a look at any of these progressive programs and think how it can elevate their career in the vibrant technology workplace. Our faculty and staff are all ready to contribute to student success in the “what’s next” economy where technology skills are vital.

Our campus is placed ideally for those interested in working in government or business. We have excellent relationships with government agencies and business in the area to help students find internships and that important technology job. We have been designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE/CDE) by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. They have reviewed our curriculum and have approved our program as top-notch.

I am excited about our progressive technology programs and look forward to working with potential students. We are particularly proud of our diversity, equity and inclusion as we help significant numbers of minorities, women, veterans and the neurodiverse succeed in the technology field.
