Mission, Values & Vision
The mission of Marymount University’s Graduate Health Care Management program is to prepare early careerists to lead and manage the health care delivery system in a competitive, global environment.
The program aims to develop students’ managerial and leadership skills, while sharpening their policy perspectives on health care issues. Graduates of the program are prepared to deliver the highest professional standards in formulating, evaluating, and implementing effective and efficient health care delivery systems and policies for diverse populations. Our graduates are well prepared for mid-level management positions throughout the healthcare delivery system. Many of our alumni have gone on to be leaders and high-level executives in the field.
Given the University’s location in the national capital region, these skills are critical in preparing graduates for successful careers in various sectors of the healthcare delivery system, such as hospitals, managed care organizations, government agencies, associations, and health care consulting firms.
The vision of Marymount University’s MSHCM program is to be the National Capital Area's premier learning environment focused on building student competencies in business, health policy, and leadership integrity that promote excellence in health care delivery.
Reflecting the mission statement, the core values of the MSHCM include:
Student Centered Environment
The MSHCM strives to create a student centered learning environment. Our faculty members are accessible and open to engage students within and outside of the classroom.
Competency Based Education
The MSHCM Program competency model is the basis of our curriculum. Every required course attempts to address students’ learning within the framework of this model.
Our student population is diverse in both, their professional and demographic backgrounds. This diversity lends itself to a fulfilling and dynamic environment that fosters learning and professional growth.
The MSHCM program provides a real-world connection for students through academic outreach, faculty scholarship and service, involvement of health care practitioners and field experiences.
The MSHCM strives to collaborate with local and global community partners that provide our students the opportunity to serve the community as well as gain exposure to diverse health care settings.
Ethics and Integrity
The program maintains a strong focus on ethics, professional and academic integrity in alignment with the roots of the University.
