Montreal, Canada

In Spring 2013, students travelled to Montreal to learn about the Canadian health care system.  The trip included tours of facilities and lectures at the University of Montreal and McGill University. Students interacted with physicians and staff, visited the Emergency Room (ER) of the Montreal General Hospital, a CLSC (Centre local de services Communautaires translated to local community service center), and a retirement home. Various topics ranging from quality improvement initiatives to the use of simulation models to predict waiting lines in hospitals were discussed.
