In collaboration with the Healthcare Management program at the Hanze School of Applied Science in Groningen, Netherlands, in summer 2018, HCM students compared and contrasted the US and Dutch long-term care systems.
After visiting assisted living and independent living facilities in Arlington, Virginia, students had an opportunity to travel for a week-long study abroad program. In Groningen, where they visited a hospital, retirement and independent living facilities to understand how long-term care facilities work. Students had an opportunity to interact with the Dutch students and discuss issues such as end-of-life care. On the final day of this trip, our students made a presentation about the US long-term care system to the Dutch students.
