Health Care Management/Information Technology (M.S./M.S.)

Many students interested in graduate study in health care management know that information technology – such as electronic medical records, telemedicine, wireless technology, and robotics – is playing an increasing role in health care management. Similarly, students pursuing a degree in Information Technology recognize that in order to be successful in the new field of health information management, they must understand health care management. In response, Marymount offers a dual degree: the Master of Science in Health Care Management and Master of Science in Information Technology.

It is designed to meet the needs of those students desiring a management position in the U.S. health care industry, with its increased focus on information technology. This dual degree program will prepare students for middle- or senior-level management positions in hospitals or other health care organizations. Graduates will be able to:

  • identify and solve complex and integrative health care management problems
  • apply information technology, including electronic records, in order to increase access to care and decrease health care costs, while simultaneously considering security and privacy issues that may arise
  • identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness that can be supported by information technology solutions such as data analysis and document management
  • communicate and work effectively with others, including analysts, programmers, and health care managers

This dual degree can be completed through a highly structured program of study at MU’s Ballston Center.
