Advising and Registration

Our First Year Experience programs are designed to help incoming students maximize the first year by getting comfortable on campus, connecting with the university, and starting to think of Marymount University as home.

Academic advising at Marymount University involves assessing student needs, goals and interests in order to guide students to complete their first year of college successfully and transition to a faculty advisor in their major field. Advisors collaborate with faculty members and professional staff to coordinate programs and activities that address the needs of individuals and/or groups of students.

Incoming first year and transfer students with less than thirty credits will have a dedicated First Year Advisor who will help you interpert the Liberal Arts core and University requirements, register, add/drop, withdraw, change major and resolve schedule conflicts.

After meeting with their first-year advisors for two semesters, students will be assigned a faculty advisor within their major. Students can meet their faculty advisors by attending their department's Meet & Greet event.
