Ceremony Information


Students must be at Constitution Hall 1 hour prior to the ceremony to line up. Guests will be permitted to enter the Hall no earlier than 2:00 p.m. for any reason per DAR Constitution Hall regulations.  

Saturday, May 20th: Graduate Student Ceremony

  • 2pm Guests may enter the Hall
  • 3pm Ceremony

Sunday, May 21st: Undergraduate Student Ceremony

  • 2pm Guests may enter the Hall
  • 3pm Ceremony 

DAR Constitution Hall Regulations

There are rules and regulations established by our host, Constitution Hall, over which Marymount University has no control. You are asked to comply with these to ensure a successful event for everyone.  Ushers provided by Constitution Hall will see that these regulations are strictly enforced.
  • Tickets are required for all guests.
  • Children 3 years of age and older must have a ticket to enter.
  • Graduates and faculty must have academic attire to be admitted.
  • The Hall will be closed to visitors once the  ceremony begins.
  • Professional photography is provided; thus no cameras are permitted. Videotaping can be done only from designated areas and tripods are prohibited.
  • Guest seating in the Hall will not be available before 2pm

Access Services

 

Commencement guests who need special seating arrangements due to a disability or health condition (i.e., seating near an exit, sign language interpreting) must complete a Guest Accommodations Request Form.  Forms can also be picked up located in Academic Affairs, Center for Teaching and Learning, or Student Affairs.

Individuals requiring accessible seating accommodations for the commencement ceremonies should enter DAR Hall via the D Steet entrance. Please see staff at the Reserved Accommodated Seating check-in table for assistance.

Per DAR Constitution Hall regulations, guests are permitted to enter the Hall no earlier than 2:00 p.m. for any reason.

Parking & Transit Options

Street Parking

Parking in the area of Constitution Hall is extremely limited, metered on Saturdays, and free on Sundays.

Garage Parking

There are a number of garages located near DAR Constitution Hall.   Among many options available online, the following are a few sites offering discounted, pre-paid, reserved garage parking near the Hall:

Traveling by Metrorail


From Orange, Silver or Blue lines (10-15 minute walk)
  • Take the Farragut West metro stop. Exit the station on 17th Street, walk south on 17th Street towards Constitution. Turn right on D Street. The main entrance to Constitution Hall is in the middle of the block between C and D Streets.

From the Red line (10-15 minute walk)
  • Take the Farragut North metro stop. Exit the station on 17th Street, walk south on 17th Street towards Constitution. Turn right on D Street. The main entrance to Constitution Hall is in the middle of the block between C and D Streets. ​

Taxi Services ​

Marymount Commencement Shuttle Schedule 


Complimentary shuttle service to Commencement Ceremonies at DAR Constitution Hall will be provided for students, families and guests on both Saturday, May 20 and Sunday May 21, 2017.   You may park your car on Marymount's Main Campus free of charge.
  • Shuttles will begin running at 1pm  
  • Shuttle departure and return will be located in front of the Main House. 
  • Shuttles will run on a continuous loop from Main Campus to DAR and back until 3pm 
  • Service will resume at the conclusion of each ceremony with departure from DAR on 18th Street for return to Main Campus. 
  • The last shuttle will depart DAR Constitution Hall for return to Main Campus at 6:50 p.m.
