MUMADE* Just for Adolescents
This week-long institute is for students in grades 8 through 12 who want to explore a possible career in the development of mobile applications, one of the most dynamic sectors in the booming technology field.
Participants will work with Marymount faculty, current MU students, and fellow institute participants to transform their creative ideas into cool mobile apps. They will use App Inventor, an amazing tool that allows anyone to easily develop mobile apps. Students will build fully functioning mobile apps that have images and links, use location-based services, and incorporate all those great features that teenagers use every day on their favorite apps. Through tutorials, hands-on labs, and guest speaker sessions, students will explore the direct application of technology to their lives and their potential role in the field. Students also will have the opportunity to share their projects (on smartphones and tablets), with friends and family, at the culminating showcase.
*MUMADE (Marymount University Mobile Apps Development for Everyone) is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and by resources supplied by Marymount University.
