Marymount offers employment opportunities for students during the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and during the summer, through two different programs:
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
The Federal Work-Study program is a government-sponsored program that enables undergraduate students to work part time to help meet the cost of their education. Jobs may be located on campus or at approved local elementary schools participating in the America Reads Literacy Program. In order to be hired through this program, FWS recipients must have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
Students earn their FWS award by receiving wages on an hourly basis for the work performed. FWS recipients are paid from FWS funds for up to 10 hours per week during the academic year and 20 hours per week during University breaks. Students do not typically earn their FWS award during the summer, though a student may continue in a position under the Campus Employment program during the summer.
Campus Employment (CE)
The Campus Employment program is a Marymount-funded program that enables undergraduate and graduate students to work part-time, on-campus jobs regardless of financial need. To qualify for CE, students must be enrolled full time in a degree-granting program, eligible to work in the United States, and in good judicial standing. Students hired through the CE program receive wages on an hourly basis for the work performed. Students are paid from the CE budget for up to 10 hours per week during the academic year and 20 hours per week during University breaks and the summer.
Student Wage Information
Student employees employed through the Federal Work Study and Campus Employment programs receive an houly wage based on the skills and responsibilities required for the position they are in. Each student posiiton is rated on the Student Employment Job Rating Worksheet
, and based on the skills and responsibilities of each position receives a score that correlates to one of the four pay levels. Studuents will receive a 50 cent pay increase based on longevity at the beginning of their third and fifth semester in a position or with a department.
