Dr. Sarah Ficke's teaching interests span a wide range of subjects, including 19th-century British fiction and poetry; literature of the British empire; African-American literature; and popular genres like romance, mystery, fantasy, and adventure. Her most recent research focuses on the connection among race, national identity, and popular culture in 19th-century adventure novels. She is also interested in digital humanities projects, and she is committed to using technology to further the study and teaching of literature.
