Dr. Karen Davis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2001. It was during her undergraduate education that Dr. Davis was first exposed to the ways that clinical psychology can be applied to legal issues. Her interest in the intersection of psychology and law led to her to pursue a graduate program that provided training in Clinical Psychology as well as opportunities in Forensic Psychology.

While attending doctoral training at Sam Houston State University, Dr. Davis obtained academic and experiential knowledge regarding a variety of issues related to the field of forensic psychology. She also had the opportunity to conduct research addressing forensic issues such as the risk assessment of sexual offenders, factors that influence decision making in mock jury studies, and the reliability of psychological autopsies. After completing the requirements for a doctoral degree in 2007, Dr. Davis pursued a postdoctoral residency in Forensic Psychology through the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. The residency provided Dr. Davis with continued experience conducting therapy and assessment with a forensic inpatient population and the opportunity to conduct a research project examining personality assessment techniques with sexual offenders.

Dr. Davis’s main interests include forensic assessment, risk assessment in sex offenders, assessment and treatment with inpatient populations diagnosed with a major mental illness, and the psychometric properties of psychological autopsies.
