Dr. Michael Walls brings an extensive and intense nursing background with nearly 25 years of combined experience in med-surg, nursing education, nursing administration, trauma resuscitation, critical care, and emergency nursing including experience in the trauma resuscitation unit of one of the largest and busiest urban trauma centers in the world. He served both active duty and in the reserves as a trauma nurse in the United State Army Nurse Corps. He also managed the trauma program at one of the area’s busiest level II trauma centers and subsequently lectured nationally and internationally on trauma care, trauma managements systems, and trauma registry as well as worked with the White House Medical Team.
Dr. Walls has extensive clinical and classroom teaching experience from nursing education programs at multiple area colleges and universities, as well as in staff development. In addition to his extensive nursing career, he worked as a forensic investigator for a state’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. He has also been a professional firefighter/paramedic, deputy sheriff, and a member of a state's flight medevac trauma team.
Dr. Walls has a passion for teaching and relating to his students with his dynamic and interactive teaching style and his ability to correlate his extensive clinical patient care experiences with the critical thinking, prioritization, time management, and problem solving skills necessary for his students to become successful registered nurses.
He is a member of the Eta Alpha and Pi Chapters of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing.
