Dr. Ioana Boie’s counseling background includes working with clients with eating disorders, trauma, and refugees from various countries. Dr. Boie therapeutic approaches include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Relational Cultural Therapy and Equine-Assisted Therapy.
Dr. Boie has published scholarly articles and presented at state and national conferences on treatment of eating disorders, body image in Mexican American women, clinical supervision, and mental health issues surrounding immigration.
Dr. Boie, an LPC, is actively involved in professional organizations, such as American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, National Eating Disorders Association, Counselors for Social Justice and Association for Creativity in Counseling.
She is currently the elected secretary for the Texas Counselors for Social Justice and has been awarded the 2012 ACES Presidential Fellowship.
She believes that becoming a counselor is a gratifying journey and she looks forward to supporting Marymount counseling students in their journeys.
