New Student Advising and Registration

New Student Advising and Registration (NSTAR)

New Student Advising and Registration (NSTAR) Information for Freshmen

In the sections that follow you will:
  • Learn about DISCOVER (DSC) 101, a course all first-semester freshmen are required to take
  • Complete the Directed Self-Placement (DSP) process and choose your English and math placements
  • Examine the recommended first-semester courses for your major
  • Review the schedule of course offerings
  • Register for your classes through Marynet (if before June 15)

Before you go any further, a couple of questions:

Have you generated your MU Student Account?
If not, create your account now. This will be important for the DSP process later.

Have you registered for your Orientation?
That’s important too because you have to attend in order to receive your class schedule. So register now on the Orientation website.

Have you been accepted into Marymount's Honors Program?
If you are in the Honors Program beginning this fall, see the instructions about your DISCOVER class and course registration. If you are not sure, please contact Admissions at (703) 284-1500.
