Volleyball Can’t Hold on Against Susquehanna
Lancaster, Pa. – Marymount University’s volleyball team fell 3-1 (20-25, 32-30, 25-18, 25-19) to Susquehanna at the Franklin & Marshall quad-match on Friday.
Sophomore outside hitter Sharda Braxton led the Saints (4-9) with 15 kills while freshman Johanna Hummel added 11 and sophomore Michelle McCormick had 10.
Defensively, senior Chelsea Gates paved the way with 30 digs while McCormick tallied a double-double with 22 digs.
Marymount came out swinging and handily took the first set 25-20. The Saints continued their hot hand into the second frame, never trailing the entire way until the Crusaders (10-6) forced things to bonus ball. Tied at 30-30, SU claimed the last two point to claim momentum after forcing 14 ties.
Susquehanna would close out the match after taking the third and fourth sets 25-18 and 25-19.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday with a pair of matches at the F&M quad. The Saints take on the host Diplomats at 11 a.m. before facing Lebanon Valley at 1:30 p.m.
