Knoxville, Tenn. – Marymount University’s junior Anna Macedonia opened action at the 2011 NCAA Women’s Swimming Championships with the first of three events on Wednesday. She swam the 50 Freestyle on Wednesday and will also compete in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Backstroke in the event this weekend.
Macedonia placed 40th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.22, just over half a second off of the cutoff mark for a consolation swim-off.
The 2010-11 Capital Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year, Macedonia still has her strongest events ahead of her. She takes the pool in the 100 Backstroke on Friday and the 200 Backstroke on Saturday.
