Golden Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer Over Ferrum in OT
Ferrum, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team won a hard fought road game 2-1 at Ferrum on Saturday night. The Saints tied things up with a late goal in the second half before finishing off the Panthers with a golden goal just over six minutes into overtime.
Cherif Moktefi notched the game winner at the 96:21 mark. He headed home a long pass from Chris Rodriguez to give the Saints (4-6-1) the win.
Rodriguez also earned the assist on Marymount’s first goal, heading an attempt off the Ferrum crossbar to find a waiting Philippe Millogo ready for the rebound in the 74th minute.
The Saints outshot the Panthers 25-14 including 13 on goal compared to just five for Ferrum.
William Brahmstedt collected four saves between the pipes for Marymount.
The Saints return to action Tuesday, October 5, on the road at Gallaudet at 7:30 p.m.
