Women's Soccer Falls to Bridgewater
Bridgewater, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team dropped its first contest of the season with a 3-2 loss to Bridgewater (Va.) on Sunday. The Saints fall to 2-1-0 on the year.
Falling behind early, MU gave up goals in the 5th and 26th minutes as the Eagles took a 2-0 lead.
Junior midfielder Lauren Sanders would chip away at the deficit minutes before halftime, hitting home a shot at the 41:54 mark. Fellow junior Stephanie Flood evened the score in the 68th minute to make things 2-2.
Looking to put the game away before overtime, Bridgewater posted its third score in the 83rd minute and held off the Saints down the stretch for the victory.
Freshman Victoria Wyand (2-1-0) collected nine saves in the loss for the Saints.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday at home against Richard Stockton at 11:30 a.m.
