Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team released its 2011 schedule, as announced by head coach Gayle Smith Wilson on Friday. The Saints host eight home matches on the year, including three to close out the regular season.
Opening at home against Trinity (D.C.) on September 1, the Saints head down to Bridgewater, Va., that weekend to take on the host Eagles and Ferrum. Marymount then returns home to host Richard Stockton on September 10 before kicking off Capital Athletic Conference play against Wesley on September 13.
Five of the next six contests are on the road for the Saints, travelling to Greensboro, Southern Virginia, Salisbury, CAC rival Mary Washington and Hood. The lone home match in between is against Gallaudet on September 21.
Closing out the season with four of five at home, the Saints look to christen their new home field at Long Bridge Park against Frostburg State on October 12. Following a trip to defending CAC champion Stevenson three days later, MU wraps up the regular season slate at home against St. Mary’s (Md.), York (Pa.) and Goucher.
Looking to reach the CAC tournament for the first time since 2007, the first round is set for an October 30 kick off. The semifinals will take place on November 2 while the finals will be on November 5.
