Women’s Soccer Falls to Visiting Christopher Newport
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team fell 4-0 to Capital Athletic Conference newcomer Christopher Newport in both teams’ league opener on Saturday afternoon. The Saints fall to 2-5 overall on the season and 1-0 in CAC action.
Splitting halves in goal, Holly Wenger (1-4-0) and April Westmark combined for 13 saves between the pipes. Wenger hauled in eight saves in the opening frame while Westmark grabbed five in the second.
Marymount managed six shots against the stout Captains defense, with Chloe McAullife and Kirsten Campbell launching a pair each.
Bupe Okeowo led the Captains (6-1-1, 1-0-0 CAC) with two goals and an assist.
Marymount returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to face Washington Adventist in Silver Spring, Md.
