Men’s Swimming Falls to Randolph-Macon

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s swimming team dropped its first meet of the New Year with a 112.50-52.50 decision against visiting Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.

Three saints, Joseph Gardner, Tom Baroz and Matt Ward led MU with three top finishes on the day.

Gardner earned the top spot in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.37. He also tied for second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:32.96 and was on the 800 freestyle relay team that placed second at 8:00.20.

Tom Baroz placed second in three events for MU, posting a 1:52.70 in the 200 freestyle, a 58.40 in the 100 butterfly and was on the 800 freestyle relay squad with Gardner and Ward. Matt Ward added a pair of third place finishes with a 24.27 in the 50 freestyle and a 1:04.54 in the 100 backstroke.

Dennis D’Abbraccio joined the trio on the 800 freestyle relay team that placed second while also finishing third in the 100 freestyle at 56.82.

Greg Shumaker closed out the Saints top performers with a third place showing in the 100 breaststroke at 1:11.13.

Marymount returns to action on Saturday, January 19th, against Catholic and Washington & Lee in Lexington, Va.
