Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s lacrosse team dropped a 12-7 decision to visiting York (Pa.) in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday. The Saints fall to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Connor Kellogg and Eric Martin both scored a pair of goals for the Saints while David Huson, Nico Burns and Max Rowse each scored as well. Huson added two assists along with lone helpers from Lance Bernecker, Burns and Kellogg.
A deliberately paced first quarter turned to the Saints favor with back-to-back goals from Martin and Huson within 42 seconds of each other 11 minutes in. Marymount would push its lead to 3-1 in the frame and 4-2 in the beginning of the second on another Martin goal.
The Spartans (5-4) began to rally from there, outscoring the Saints 5-0 the rest of the half as part of seven unanswered goals to take a 9-4 lead in the third and hold MU at bay the rest of the way.
Five Saints collected at least three ground balls, led by Vince Lodato with five. Mike Smith, Kellogg and Ross Fernandez each added four while Rowse picked up three.
Lodato was solid on faceoffs, winning 13 of 20 trips to the X.
In goal, Fernandez collected nine saves in the loss.
B.J. Blaker led York with three goals while Jimmy Langton and Tyler Hutson both added a pair.
Tyler Powell collected 13 saves in the win for the Spartans.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it hosts top-ranked Salisbury at Long Bridge Park.
