Women’s Lacrosse Falls in CAC Opener

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team dropped its Capital Athletic Conference 16-9 to visiting 19th-ranked Stevenson on Saturday afternoon. The Saints fall to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Tancy Weatherford led the Saints with three goals for a hat-trick. Molly Maher, Catherine Powell, Chelsea Ritter, Taylor Johnson, Stephanie Flood and Lindsay Bullock added lone goals for MU as well.

Maher led Marymount with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Ritter collected a game-high six draw controls.

In goal, Laurdes Lanzas hauled in seven saves in the loss.

Laura Grammer, Emily Gartrell and Marissa Meiklejohn paced the Mustangs (4-2, 1-0 CAC) with three goals apiece.

Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to face Wesley in CAC play.
