Women’s Swimming Finishes Third at CAC Championships, Men Fifth
St. Mary’s City, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s swimming team closed out the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in third place while the men’s squad finished fifth. The Saints women posted 464 points in three days of competition while the men’s team collected 244.
On the women’s side, the Saints team of Casey Thomas, Katie Moran, Taylor Hood and Bridget Wunderly finished second to win silver in the 400 medley relay and garner All-CAC accolades.
Casey Thomas also picked up All-CAC honors with a bronze medal finish in the 100 freestyle, defeating Moran by a mere .01 seconds. Wunderly added a bronze in the 200 butterfly as well.
Kim Rizzo and Lauren Funk were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 200 backstroke and Emily Wagner was seventh in the 200 breaststroke.
On the men’s side, top finishers included Joseph Gardner and Greg Shumaker finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke as well as Tom Baroz placing 10th in the 200 butterfly.
