Women’s Volleyball Tops Frostburg State in CAC Opener
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team won its Capital Athletic Conference opener with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-14) victory over visiting Frostburg State on Wednesday night. The win is the 10th in 11 matches for the Saints and the first victory over the Bobcats since 2001.
Jenn Forbes led the Saints (11-4, 1-0 CAC) with nine kills while hitting at an impressive .467 clip. Erin Allison was also sharp, collecting eight kills with just one error to hit .350 on the day while Johanna Hummel added eight kills as well and hit .300 against the Bobcats.
Pacing the offense, Melissa Warren logged 23 assists to go with 10 digs for a double-double. Brianne Fitzpatrick added eight assists.
The Saints drilled the Bobcats (0-14, 0-2 CAC) with 11 service aces on the night with Allison earning five and Warren chipping in three.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick led the way with a match-high 14 digs. Morgan McAlpin led all players with three blocks on the night.
